The start of the adventure

Well, after a long wait and months of planning, it is finally here (thanks Engela for my intro line).  9 more sleeps until my flight leave on Sunday 8 July for the adventure of a life time

I'm sure you asked: What's the blog name all about?  Contrary to Juliet's quote to Romeo:  "What's in a name?  That which we call a rose by any other anme would smell as sweet", my blog name has meaning - a double meaning off course :)

According to the Oxford Dictionary the word "pilgrim"  is "a person who journeys to a sacred place for religious reasons" and Paul said that we are strangers and pilgrims on earth (Heb 11:13), and that our earthly house is a tent (2 Cor 5:1) - thus, we are only journeying through it - it is temporary.  "Passion" in the Oxford Dictionary is explained as "an intense desire or enthusiasm for something" or "a thing arousing great enthusiasm".  It also means the suffering and death of Jesus.  The latter I found out as I was writing this but I thought it is very fitting.

So, after all of that – my blog name has meaning and it encompasses my next 4 months.  Yes, I will be travelling and yes, part of it is for missionary work (sharing the GOOD NEWS of JESUS with the world) and part of it is just for fun – exploring new countries and cultures.  And these 4 months allow me to combine a few things of which I have great passions for – Jesus, travelling, kids, sports, different cultures and adventures (to name just a few).

I’ve never before travelled knowing so little of what is waiting for me on the other side.  But, having prayed about it, planned to the extent that I could, I trust the Lord to work the rest outJ. So in this time, I will use this blog to share my journey with you all - What I get up to and what is exciting (and possibly less exciting).

In broad terms, my first adventure includes the UK and Europe.  I will be travelling to the UK (9July – 19 August), Romania (19 August – 31 August), Germany (31 August – Mid September) and the last week (before returning home for a CCAC) is still unsure but will spend it with great friends, Lizelle and Jaco J!

I hope you will be able to experience and share in my adventure of a life time

Till my next post
