Falling in Love

Another whirlwind of a week... Wow, so much to do, so little time!  Can I please have more time in my day :)! No, just kidding -  I am enjoying it.  This past week, we were once again working hard on finalising the last logistics for Creation Fest that are officially kicking of in 2 weeks... 14 sleeps!

On Tuesday (16th of July) we spent most of the day outside of the office.  We visited one of the most beautiful coastal village, called Boscastle (You will sure still here a lot more from me on this little town).  It is really beautiful and sure the Lord is going to do great work there!  We are planning an outreach from the 28th to the 31st of July in this village.  The outreach will kick off with a Sunday morning service and a Sunday School programme (which doesn't currently exist) and the rest of the time will be filled with Live music from Scott Cunningham and about 4 other bands, Kids crafts (sharing with them the Gospel and the greatness of God's creation) and playing Playstation in our new "The Wave" bus - all excited about this - and please keep this in your prayer.

I am at the moment involved in assisting with the big, week-long Creation Fest (that starts the 3rd of August) as well as organising the outreach and the start of the Sunday School in Boscastle.  Earlier in the week I started to feel overwhelmed about everything that needs to be done and wondering where I am going to find the time (never mind the additional time required to figure things out and learning the HOW TO...) - and that night, when I read my Bible, I read Psalm 16:8 - "I have set the LORD always before me, because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved"... WOW! What comforting words, at the RIGHT TIME!  God is with me in all of this, and with Him, I will not be moved / shaken!  That just once again made me think how amazing the Bible is - God's Word to us... to me and to you!  That was God speaking to me that night.  Psalm 19:7-8 also describe God's word as perfect (reviving the soul), sure, right and pure - now really, who wouldn't want to read a book that is perfect, sure, right and pure!  So yes, this week I've once again fell in love with God's word.  God's word is alive and powerful, speaking to me and to you!

This upcoming week is our last week in the office in Launceston before we move down to Wadebridge for the set-up of Creation Fest.  Please continue to pray for me, the Festival and the outreach!

My prayer is that you will fall in love (or fall in love all over again!) with God's Word as you read and study it - listening to what God says to you.

I would like to leave you with the following words from jcrylequotes.com (Thanks Lorna, was so fitting to my week)!
“The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good the design and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. Pray it in. Read it through. Live it out. Pass it on."

From Marketer to Missionary

A new season in my life started… I’ve made the decision to take the step of faith from just over 6 years in the corporate world as marketer, to come to England as a missionary.  After a long and emotional 2 weeks of “goodbyes”, I safely arrived, in good spirit, in the UK and have already got my first work week behind me. It has been go go go from the moment I stepped into the office… But it has been good.  Creation Fest is in 3 weeks’ time (3-9August) and we have a 4-day outreach in Boscastle the week before, and two Creation Movement Road shows (17 Aug in St. Ives and 23-24 Aug in Cambourne) afterwards.
This past week was hectic, so no time for pictures yet… but, while I did my round of goodbyes, I was asked a lot of similar questions, and I thought I will answer the main two in my first blog.

What exactly will you do?
I’ve joined the Creation Fest team (one of the places I volunteered on a short term basis in 2012 – see blogs of July – Aug 2012) on a full time basis as an events coordinator in Cornwall, England. Currently, Creation Fest is a week-long Christian Music Festival (www.creationfest.org.uk) that happens in August in Wadebridge, Cornwall. The vision is that Creation Fest be extended with smaller outreaches and road shows throughout the year, presenting an opportunity to take the festival to the people.  There is also an opportunity to serve the Lord in Kids Ministry – but an update on this will follow later!

How or why did you make the decision?
The best place to be is in the Lord’s will.  In 2012 just before a four month sabbatical, the Lord gave me a promise in Psalm 32:8: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eyes”.  As always, God is faithful and He did. In December, I received an email from Phil Pechonis, the Festival Director, asking if I'd want to come on board with Creation Fest full time. I consistently prayed about it and waited on the Lord for the answer.  At the end of January God answered my prayer through 2 Scripture passages: Revelation 3:8 (“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it…”and 2 days after that through Acts 16 - with the challenge: The Lord still sends out missionaries today - if the Lord calls you, will you go?   That day I knew the Lord answered my prayer and that for the next season of my life I need to serve Him at Creation Fest.

During the traveling on the planes and trains, I read a book called “A present Help – Standing on the promises of God” by Marie Monsen (she was a missionary in China).  And it made me think about all the promises God gave us in His word.  I tried to figure out how many promises there are in the Bible for us, some say over 3000 and others over 7000 – but that is not important.  The important part is that no matter our situation or circumstance, there is a promise God gives us and we can hold on to knowing He is a faithful God… As a Christians we need “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). I’ve just taken a big step of faith in my life, but I can know and be assured that for this next 10 months in the UK (and the rest of my life off course), my faith can rests secure in the promises of God (no matter where He leads me).  Here are some of promises to remember:
Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”
Romans 10:13: “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Hebrews 13:5: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”
Matthew 19:26: “with God all things are possible.”

What is your favourite promise from God?

Xxx

P.S – thank you to you all who have been showering me with your prayers and please do not stop!  I am really blessed through your prayers.

Some prayer requests:
Personal:
Please continue to pray:
* That the Lord would use me to glorify His name wherever it might be
* That my mind would continue to dwell in His Truth (Phil 4:8)
* For godly friends and fellowship

For Creation Fest, the Creation Movement Road shows and the People of the UK:
* Please pray that all those festival goers, that do not know Jesus, hearts will be touched and open to the Gospel
* For strength (and energy), wisdom and focus for the Creation Fest staff, team leaders and volunteers for the final preparations and logistics before the festival
